Reds in Town

Carrick Rangers host Cliftonville on Saturday in what will be the ‘Gers second home game in the week.

A much-changed ‘Gers side enjoyed a 3-0 win over Bangor in Co. Antrim Shield action on Tuesday evening. The evening saw 7 changes to the Starting XI, with Stephen Baxter giving starts to Scott Pengelly, Billy Joe Burns, Ryan Waide, Nedas Maciulaitis, Ben Buchanan-Rolleston, Jack Boyd and Kyle Cherry and there were to be two more debutants during the game, as Daniel Grills and Codey James came on as substitutes, stepping up from the Carrick Rangers Academy. James going on to score the second goal on the evening, after a Jack Scott penalty opened the scoring before Ben Buchanan-Rolleston opened his scoring account in the closing stages.

For the visitors, Cliftonville, they overcame North Belfast rivals Crusaders at Solitude on Tuesday evening with goals from Eric McWoods and Callum McCay, the win made it consecutive wins for the Reds after they recorded their first league win of the season over Glenavon last weekend.

There are no new injury concerns for ‘Gers boss Baxter following Tuesday’s Co. Antrim Shield win, however Ethan Boyle, Seanan Clucas (both knee), Reece Glendinning (hand) and Cameron Stewart all remain unavailable.
