Jimmy called on

Carrick Rangers is delighted to announce the signing of Jimmy Callacher.

The 33-year-old defender will join the ‘Gers following the expiration of his contract with Crusaders.

Jimmy started his career at Glentoran where he won an Irish Cup in 2013 having been with the Club since he was 12 years of age.

A cross city move to Linfield in January 2014 led to his most successful period in the Irish League, making 368 appearances and scoring 47 goals for the Blues in an 8 and a half year spell winning 5 league titles, 2 Irish Cups and 2 League Cups. He also won the personal accolade of Ulster Footballer of the Year in 2018/19 whilst at Windsor.

A move to Crusaders followed in 2023 where he made 43 appearances, scoring 1 goal for the Hatchetmen.

Now, on joining Carrick Rangers, Jimmy commented,

“I’m delighted to be joining Carrick Rangers, and I’m looking forward to the new season starting.

I spoke to both Stephen Baxter and the Chairman Peter Clarke and they told me their plans moving forward which I want to be a part of.

I know it’s an old cliche but we’ll just take one game at a time, win as many games as possible and see where it takes us.”

Manager Stephen Baxter added,

“I am delighted to confirm the arrival of Jimmy Callacher to Carrick Rangers.

Jimmy is an outstanding player and leader having played for all the top clubs in our league and won all the trophies there are to win.

A no nonsense defender but also very comfortable on the ball, Jimmy will add power, strength and big game experience as we move forward.

Jimmy had several options open to him but chose Carrick Rangers as his new home and we are all looking forward to seeing him in the Amber and Black colours in August.”

Welcome to Carrick Rangers, Jimmy!
