The midfielder, whose four-year spell with Carrick Rangers ends this summer, calls time on a successful career having started out back in 2008.
Cushley arrived in June 2021 from Crusaders, one of the first signings under the Stuart King regime. Throughout his 145 appearances for the club, he was known for his willingness to run through the pain barrier, picking up knocks on many occasions but playing on for the team.
In his 145 appearances, Cush would find the net 27 times, most often from the penalty spot with his powerful left foot.
Carrick Rangers manager Stephen Baxter oversaw a large part Cushley's career having managed him at both Crusaders and then at Carrick Rangers, stated,
"After a long and outstanding career David Cushley has called time on his playing career to spend time with his family and achieve other things.
David is a superstar of our league, a brilliant footballer, team mate and above all a great person.
I would like to wish David every success in his future plans and also to say, thank you for all the memories."
Everyone at Carrick Rangers thanks David for his effort and commitment throughout the last four years and congratulates him on a successful football career.
Enjoy your retirement, Cush.
