Preview | Ballymena United vs Carrick Rangers

Rangers return to league action tomorrow afternoon as they face Ballymena United at the Showgrounds.

It has been two weeks since the last round of fixtures were played, with last weekend’s games postponed as a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The ‘Gers have enjoyed a bright start to the campaign; a home win against Linfield being the highlight and a point at Mourneview Park the most recent league result.

Safe passage has also been enjoyed in both the County Antrim Shield, beating H&W Welders 1-0, and the League Cup with a 5-0 triumph over Banbridge Town on Tuesday evening.

Now their attention is fully focused on United, whose own League Cup tie was played on Wednesday night and went to extra time before they progressed with a 4-2 win away to Ards.

Their fortunes in the league haven’t been just as good, however, as they have lost their last three fixtures against Linfield, Larne & Cliftonville.

The Braidmen made several new signings in the summer transfer window, including former ‘Ger Jordan Gibson who scored the decisive goal in two of Carrick’s victories against Ballymena last season.

Another ex-Carrick player, Steven McCullough, could make a return to action for the home side having served his suspension.
