PREVIEW | Warrenpoint Town vs Carrick Rangers

Carrick Rangers make the journey to Milltown on Saturday afternoon as they face Warrenpoint Town in Danske Bank Premiership action.

Stuart King’s side have turned in encouraging performances of late, most recently in a narrow 3-2 defeat at home to Cliftonville on Tuesday evening.

However, the lack of points secured is something the ‘Gers boss will want to rectify and if that is to happen, Rangers will have to get the better of their County Down opponents.

‘Point have enjoyed a full week’s rest, having brought their midweek fixture with Glenavon forward to last Saturday when, like Carrick a month ago, they let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with the Lurgan outfit.

Barry Gray will feel, similar to his counterpart King, that his side have been doing well without the points to show for it - six of their last eight league losses have only been by a single goal.

Their last league win came when they visited the Loughview Leisure Arena at the end of November, Luke Wade-Slater’s brace securing the victory.

The ‘Gers, meanwhile, last won two-and-a-half weeks ago with a 3-0 success over Ballymena United.

If they are to win at Milltown, it would be the first time Carrick have done so since September 2019 when Stewart Nixon hit a hattrick.
