His progression to Northern Ireland International says it all. So versatile, consistent and no weaknesses.
On his day, he’s a joy to watch. All rounder. Can play and mix it physically. Arguably never fulfilled his potential.
CENTRE BACK: Albert Watson (Ballymena United)
A colossus and a winner. Never seen him lay down to anyone and was able to dominate the best in the league. You could tell no one liked playing against him.
LEFT BACK: Stephen McBride (Ballymena United)
Never seen him flustered on the ball and so consistent. Could defend and go forward. Could also nutmeg a mermaid.
CENTRE MIDFIELDER: Allan Jenkins (Ballymena United)
Leader and driving force. A real presence and never gave up. Had the ability to drag the the team through games.
CENTRE MIDFIELDER: Chris Morrow (Carrick Rangers)
Played with him at towards the end of his career but in his day he was the best about. A complete midfielder - box to box.
CENTRE MIDFIELDER: Gary Haveron (Ballymena United)
Another leader and played every game like it was the most important. Great influence on those around him. Loved the nasty side of the game but also had great technical ability.
RIGHT FORWARD: Eamonn Murray (Ballymena United)
The enigma. He never realised how good we was. Possibly inconsistent, like a lot in his position, but sometimes you just had to sit back and watch him produce magic.
CENTRE FORWARD: Gary McCutcheon (Ballymena United)
A joy to play with. Scored all types of goals although less with his head. Never doubted him in front of goal but deadly from outside it also. Could find space anywhere and a great first touch and two great feet.
LEFT FORWARD: DAVID CUSHLEY (Ballymena United)
When he was on it he was unplayable. A match winner that had to be on the pitch regardless of how the game had gone for him. Frightening left peg!
