The 26-year-old joined the club at the start of the 2017/18 campaign and was one of just a few players who remained following relegation from the Danske Bank Premiership.
Smith proved to be a vital player for Niall Currie’s side last season as he finished top goalscorer, finding the net 16 times in all competitions, which took his total to 21 goals in 62 appearances for the club.
Delighted to have the commitment of last season’s top goalscorer, Niall Currie commented,
“I am delighted to have Michael on board again. Everyone knows his talent and he now has a chance to make an impact in the top flight that, given his talent, he should have made many years ago. He knows what he has to do so everything is in his own hands to be the best he can be. Both myself and our management team will also do everything we can to make that happen as he is a special talent.”
Michael Smith was also happy to be remaining at the Loughshore Hotel Arena, saying,
“I am delighted to be staying on for the upcoming season and I am looking forward to getting going again and building upon the success of last season!”
Congratulations, Michael! #AmberArmy
